The Position:

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer in this newly created role, the Head of Construction & Cost Management will primarily be responsible for providing accurate cost estimates for Construction projects, project managing and identifying potential cost-saving opportunities as well as commercial negotiations with suppliers and delivery of new stores and projects. You will work closely with key Stakeholders to ensure that new stores roll out and projects are completed within budget and on time.

Other key responsibilities and duties will include
  • Prepare cost estimates and for construction projects (refurbishments, new store openings).
  • Conduct feasibility studies to determine project viability.
  • Identify potential cost-saving measures and provide recommendations on GA and CD Sets.
  • Monitor, Control and report on project costs, ensuring that they remain within budget.
  • Evaluate and negotiate framework agreements with Suppliers and Contractors.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets.
  • Collaborate with various Stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed on time and provide updates throughout projects.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of all project-related documentation.
  • Ensure the “How to build” Manual is always kept up to date.
  • Approve all partners new store builds and refurbishments.
  • Implement project management processes to ensure successful project completion.
  • Manage “blueprint” meetings.
  • Oversee projects timeline and ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Manage project risks and pre-empt potential forthcoming issues.
  • Conduct post-completion project analysis to identify areas for improvement (audit)


The Candidate Profile

The Head of Construction & Cost Management is likely to have a Degree in Surveying Construction Management, Project Management or similar and be an RICS Member with relevant experience in a similar role within a hospitality, leisure or retail operator.

The other key attributes sought are:
  • The ability to deliver all new and refurbishment projects to time, cost and quality.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Well established network of connections with Contractors, F&B Suppliers etc.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work well in a Team environment.
  • Familiarity with relevant software programs and tools.
  • Should be technically astute and commercially aware with a strong cost and delivery focus.
  • Knowledge of all relevant Statutory and Health & Safety regulations and standards.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Tenacious and focused on delivery, results and cost savings

  • Surveying and New store and project management planning and delivery.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Great communicator.
  • Proficient in using computer software such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite and estimation software.
  • Ability to read and interpret and feedback on technical drawings and plans.
